This week we hear from Kristen Bazuin…
Kids Hope Year End Wrap Up!
WOW! This year has been a whirlwind! I can’t believe how fast this year has gone! Kids Hope has had a great year. South Harbor provided mentors to children at Brown Elementary, Nickels Intermediate and West Middle in Byron Center. We have several children that are being loved, new students and mentors added to our program, a few kids who moved, a new principal who is learning the significance of Kids Hope, schedules turned upside down and many special moments of understanding, love and care for both mentors and kids! It’s been a busy year!
In elementary school many of our students learned about NED. NED is a yo-yo artist who taught the children to: Never Give Up, Encourage others, and Do your Best.
In many ways our mentors are NED in the flesh to their student. As I was thinking about NED I realized he may not be a Biblical character but, he reflects many of the qualities God has called us to develop as children of Him.
Never Give Up:
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Do your best:
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
I love that our mentors have the opportunity to reinforce some great values that school is instilling in the children. Our mentors are children of God who take NED to a whole new level for the children, shining God’s light on them and sharing His love and His encouragement with them, while He gives them His strength to never give up!
To all our mentors and prayer partners: Thank you so much for the love, care and prayer you have put into your student! You are an amazing example of God’s love to your student, thank you for cheering them on when they wanted to give up, thank you for encouraging them and showing them how to encourage others and thank you for being your best for them. Each of you is an amazing gift!
