On Sunday, May 21, South Harbor’s congregation overwhelming approved the purchase of the current building and property, along with approving the 2017/18 budget and Elder and Deacon nominees. This was our first step in the process of a potential renovation project of our building.

We’re also excited to report that the vote taken on Sunday, June 4, to move into the detailed design and fundraising phase for the South Harbor was overwhelming supported by over 96%! Thank you for your commitment to your church and helping people find their way back to God!

Next Steps:

First, we hope you can join us at one of two important input meetings lead by the Campus Leadership Team (CLT). At these two gatherings, you will get to preview the current design concepts, ask questions, and share ideas about the upcoming potential renovation. The CLT will then share the results with the Strategic Facilities Team as they work on next steps and with the architects and designers.

Meetings on Sunday, June 25 at 4pm and 6pm

Second, we’re putting together a team to work on funding and fundraising. Please pray for these next steps as we seek to be wise and strategic.

Potential Ministry Expansion Concept

The following renderings are “concept” only. In fact, we’ve discussed and included many additional ideas we’ve heard since last week’s meeting into the concept. Additional congregational input will be included in the next phase as we move from concept towards detailed design.

Concept Priorities

Through initial input from our leadership team, staff and people who attend South Harbor, we landed on the priorities listed below. Though we realize there are much more hopes and wishes we all have, we also are seeking to be fiscally responsible and name the first and second order priorities. We will revisit and refine these during additional input sessions in June.

First Level Priorities

  • Increased, intimate, brighter worship space
  • Consolidated, functional, secure kids space
  • Supporting lobby/ gathering space
  • Restrooms to support size
  • Parking to meet demand

Additional, Second Level Priorities

  • Multipurpose/ medium space
  • Work/ Office space

April Floorplan Concept

This floor plan is the third iteration as we continue to dream and ideate possible solutions to our priorities for the project. In this past week, we have already made changes to the concept based on your feedback. Unfortunately, we do not yet have the most recent edition to post, but will share that as soon as we can.
