Introduction to Hebrew Culture, Language, and Spiritual Practices
March 28, 2019
Thursdays, March 28 – May 23 | 6:30-8pm
This is an 8-week course on Hebrew culture, language, and practices. It is designed for participants to better understand our spiritual ancestors, learn some Hebrew in a fun, interactive environment, and acquire new skills to engage Scripture.
This course will be taught in an interactive style, meaning participants will be out of their seats often and will be contributing to the learning environment with their ideas, experience, and creativity. Participants will be learning a few Hebrew songs and words, doing a deep dive into a specific passage in the Hebrew text, and engaging spiritual practices throughout the 8 weeks. Expect laughter, multiple attempts at making the sounds of an ancient language, trying new things, learning more about God and yourself, and connecting on a new level with the people God first called.
The ideal participant is anyone who is curious about Hebrew people and theology, wants to engage Scriptures on a deeper level, or anyone who is willing to dive in and see what it’s all about. No prior study of Hebrew is required and all levels of Scripture knowledge and faith journey are welcome. Please do your best to commit to all 8-weeks as the content will build on prior weeks. We will also be relying on your feedback to continue developing and improving this course. We will invite you to engage the content as a participant and will be creating space for your reflections, suggestions, and ideas. If you have any questions or concerns you can contact the facilitator of the course, Hannah Stevens, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The class will not meet on Thursday, April 18 due to Maundy Thursday observance.
